I am directed by the Governor to transmit to you for the favour

atle consideration of the Royal Humane Society the enclosed extract from

the Daily Press. of the 19th instant with special reference to the gallant

action of Mr. W. Stopani under the circumstances. therein recorded.

I also enclose for the information of the

Society copies of letters from Messrs Stevens, Humphreys and Sutton con

taining details of the accident referred to in the above extract, and

confirming the account of Mr. Stopagi's gallant conduct which His

Excellency hopes will meet with due recognition from the Royal Humane

Society.
